Diaper Genie Setup Instructions
The Diaper Genie II is a diaper pail that is designed to minimize the dirty diaper smell in the room. Reading the instructions will make setting up and using your Diaper Genie much easier. The Diaper Genie uses a refill made specifically for it; it consists of a long plastic tube called the seal in which you tie knots to create individual bags of diapers. Make sure you have several of these refills on hand.

Setting Up Your Diaper Genie
-
Take the top off of your Diaper Genie II. Pull the tab on the Diaper Genie refill and remove the outer wrapper. Pull the seal down until you have approximately 18 inches free. Now create a bag to catch the diapers by tying a knot at the end of the plastic seal.
Place the refill on top of the Diaper Genie II. Grab the knot you created and push it down through the clamp. Put the lid back on, pushing down until you hear a snap. The snap indicates that the lid has locked into place correctly.
Your Diaper Genie II is now set up and ready for those dirty diapers.
Using the Diaper Genie
-
To avoid tearing the plastic seal, roll the diaper and keep the tabs to the inside of the diaper. With most other diaper pails, this doesn't matter, so it may take a little getting used to. Make sure to roll the diapers as tightly as possible to help contain the odor.
To dispose of a dirty diaper, open the lid and push the diaper down through the clamp. Close the lid again. When the Diaper Genie starts to get full, you'll notice that the diapers won't go into the clamp easily. This means it's time to empty it.
Emptying the Diaper Genie
-
When the Diaper Genie is full, push the button to open the lid. Grab the plastic seal and pull it into the childproof cutter. With one hand holding the seal on each side of the cutter, pull up to cut the seal. Tie the end of the bag in a knot to close off the dirty diapers, and dispose of the bag.
To set up the Diaper Genie again, pull out about 18 inches of plastic seal. Tie a knot at the end to create a bag, push it down through the clamp and then close the lid. Now you're ready for the next dirty diaper.
Cleaning Your Diaper Genie
-
Every few months, you should thoroughly clean and disinfect your Diaper Genie II. White vinegar and baking soda are two great cleaners for this purpose since they are completely safe to use around your baby. White vinegar will clean and deodorize your Diaper Genie and kill 99 percent of the germs. If there are any stains remaining after using the vinegar, mix baking soda with some water to make a scouring powder. This is a great and safe non-abrasive cleanser.
