Summer Camps in Western New York

A large concentration of summer camps in western New York take place near the highly populated cities of Buffalo and Rochester. Summer camp options range from day camps to overnight camps, and provide kids with an option that allows them to socialize with other children their age that enjoy the same interests. These interests include everything from sports and computers to science and the arts.

  1. Happyland Day Camp

    • Recreation is the focus of the Happyland camp in Amherst, located in the outskirts of the Buffalo. Kids ages 3 to 10 receive instruction in a variety of arts and sports including archery, music and crafts.

    Day Camp at Northland Farm

    • This camp in Pembroke, New York, which is 30 minutes from Buffalo, caters to children in grades one through eight who are interested in horses and the outdoors. Not only will campers be instructed in equestrian riding and caring for the horses, but they will also learn to fish and identify plants in the area.

    Fastbreak Lacrosse Camp

    • This lacrosse camp in Buffalo covers every aspect of the sport by combining instruction with games and scrimmages. The day camp serves campers of all skill levels, and offers a camp for youth comprised of both boys and girls between the ages of four and seven, and a separate camp for boys from 8 to 18 years of age.

    Rochester Scholars

    • Located at Rochester University, Rochester Scholars provides middle school and high school kids with pre-college instruction in a collegiate environment. With an expansive course catalog and on-campus housing, campers get a real taste of college that expands their interests and academic knowledge.

    Downstairs Cabaret Theatre Summer Education Program

    • DCT is a full-fledged, week-long performing arts camp, which offers instruction in acting, singing and dancing for kids between the ages of 5 and 18. The camp lasts all day and kids will have a chance to perform in the showcase at the end of camp.

    YMCA Camp Cory

    • The YMCA of Greater Rochester offers multiple, week-long, overnight camps for kids between the ages of 7 and 17 on Keuka Lake in Penn Yan outside of Rochester. Kids will enjoy many activities on the lake, including sailing, kayaking and swimming, in addition to games, a zip line and two ropes courses.
