Bible Stories to Read to Your Children
Teaching your kids Bible stories gives them a way to learn about the foundations of Christianity while giving you a segue to teach them about life lessons. Use the Bible stories in conjunction with how they should act in their everyday life. Some stories are complex, so choose stories that are within their comprehension level.

Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego
-
The story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego is one that teaches going against the flow and standing up for what is right. In this story, the three friends refused to follow a decree that was issued by the king. They were to bow down and pray to an idol of the king, but they knew they were only to bow down to their God, so the refused. As a punishment for their disobedience, the king bound them and threw them into an inferno. However, the men were protected by God and emerged from the fire without a hair on their heads singed. This teaches your kids not to follow rules that they know to be wrong. This story can be found in the Book of Daniel, Chapter Three.
Daniel and the Lions' Den
-
This story is similar to the previous story. The king decreed that everybody had to pray solely to him. Daniel knew he had to pray to his God only, so he continued to do that. The king then fed him to the lions, as he said he would do to violators. The lions never touched Daniel because God saved, rewarding him for his faith. This story can be found in the Book of Daniel, Chapter Six.
Adam and Eve
-
The tale of Adam and Eve recounts the world's creation. This story again teaches obedience to God. Adam and Eve were the first two people that God create; he instructed them to only eat from specific trees in the Garden of Eden. They ate from the one tree he said not to, and were punished. Use this story to teach your kids, in conjunction with the Ten Commandments, that we are to honor our mother and father. Also, teach them that disobedience can lead to being separated from God. This story is found in the beginning of the Book of Genesis.
Enoch
-
Tell your kids the story of Enoch. He is only mentioned a few times in the Bible, but these mentions get the point across. Enoch was such a righteous man that the Bible says he "walked with God." Also, Enoch is one of two people who never died: he was taken up to Heaven by God instead of having to endure a death like everyone else. This teaches your kids that if they lead a holy life, they too can "walk with God." This is story is found in the Book of Genesis and in the Epistle of Jude, Chapter 14.
