Things for Kids to Do in Atlantic City

When you think of Atlantic City, New Jersey, you imagine tall hotels and lit-up casinos. Atlantic City is not just a place for adults who like to gamble, though. There are plenty of things that kids can do. In fact, it is a great place to take a family vacation or purchase a summer home. Your children will love the ocean air, beautiful boardwalk and many attractions that Atlantic City has to offer.

  1. Ripley's Believe It or Not

    • Visit Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum. This museum is probably unlike any museum your child has ever seen before. View the remains of a mermaid, replica of Michael Jordan, or the man who balanced his twins in a basket on his head. The cost to visit this museum is $16 for anyone over the age of 13 and $10 for children. You will find the Ripley's Museum on the corner of New York Avenue and the boardwalk.

    Beach

    • Spend the day on the beautiful beach of Atlantic City. Kids can bring their boogie boards or surf boards and enjoy some time in the ocean. They can also build sand castles or search for sea shells. Older children can lay out and get a tan. The best part about having fun on the beach in Atlantic City is that it is free. Many New Jersey islands charge for beach tags, but not Atlantic City.

    Steel Pier Amusement Park

    • Go on the rides at Steel Pier Amusement Park. This amusement park is right on the boardwalk directly in front of Taj Mahal (on Virginia Avenue). Kids can bump into each other on the bumper cars, spin on the Tilt-A-Whirl or take a ride on the ferris wheel. In addition to all of the rides, there are also games the children can play. Tickets are 75 cents each, but are cheaper per unit when you purchase them in bulk, in a booklet. The ticket counter is at the entrance to the amusement park.

    Atlantic City Aquarium

    • Take a day to visit the Atlantic City Aquarium. Your child will get to see many different types of fish, witness a diver feed the sharks and touch stingray's. The cost to visit the Atlantic City Aquarium is very affordable. Adults only cost $7 and children over the age of 3 cost $4. Children under the age of 3 are free. You will find the aquarium at 800 N.     Dolphin Watching

    • Spend a few hours looking for dolphins. There are many boats in Atlantic City that offer dolphin watching cruises. These cruises are a lot of fun for children. They get to ride on a boat and go dolphin hunting. There are morning cruises, as well as afternoon cruises, so you are sure to find a time that will fit in to your vacation schedule.
