Behavior Camps for Teens

Parents of troubled teenagers are often in dire need of a solution. Behavior camps provide parents of troubled teens with an outlet that has the potential of improving their teen's behavior. Camps range from Christian camps that use religion to improve the lives of teens to boot camps that use structure and discipline to instill respect and positive attitudes in teens.

  1. Midcourse Correction

    • Midcourse Correction offers weekend challenge camps for troubled teens. During the 46-hour camp, teens participate in high ropes courses, calisthenics and seminars that educate teens about the consequences of their choices as well as ways to make positive choices. A two-hour session for parents is also offered on the last day of the camp. The program is open to teens 11 to 17 years old and costs $425. Camps are offered year-round, with some activities being modified in the winter.

    New Hope Wilderness Camp

    • New Hope Wilderness Camp is a 21-day camp for troubled teens offered year-round. The goal of the camp is to help teens develop accountability, learn self-discipline and begin to appreciate others. Teens work with horses during the camp and learn how to ride and take care of the horses as a form of therapy. The cost of the camp is $7,000 and includes 24-hour supervision with a counselor ratio of one counselor for every two students, all meals and the cost of feeding and caring for the camp's horses.

    Trinity Teen Solutions

    • Girls ages 12 to 17 can attend Trinity Teen Solution's summer program for troubled teens. Teens spend the duration of the summer camp learning how to work the ranch where the camp is held and taking care of the animals. Campers also engage in therapy sessions and complete Christian-centered personal growth lessons. The cost of the program is $350 per day with 45- and 90-day programs available. Financial assistance is available. Camp tuition includes sessions with licensed counselors, 24-hour supervision, high-protein meals and nutritional supplements, along with an option for family therapy.
