How to Announce a Pregnancy to Your Parents
Finding out you are expecting a baby is one of the happiest times of a person's life. Although everyone will fall over themselves to congratulate you on your news, nobody will be happier for the prospective parents than the grandparents-to-be. While news of a new grandchild will always be a joyous moment for them, take the time to think how you can reveal your news in a way which underlines not only how special your news is but how much your parents mean to you, too.

Purchase personalized fortune cookies; you can get them specific to your needs, which means you can choose what is written on the message inside. The message inside your fortune cookies should read something like "Congratulations, you're going to be grandparents." Organize a family meal and invite your parents to join you. You can present the fortune cookies after the meal and watch their reaction as they get the special news in a way they will never forget. Give your parents a photo frame containing the picture of your first ultrasound with a message attached saying "See you soon." Alternatively, if you have not had an ultrasound or simply cannot wait that long, you can still purchase a frame -- just do not put a picture in it. Instead you could place a piece of white card inside with "Your grandchild, appearing here soon" written on it. They will have a lasting reminder of how they found out they were going to become grandparents. Set up a website or blog in honor of your new arrival or make it in to a pregnancy journal so you can chart each day or week of your pregnancy. Whichever you decide to do, make sure you put something like "Congratulations to the grandparents-to-be, Janet and John" on the home page of the blog or website. All you have to do then is direct your parents to the website, where they will receive their good news in the most modern of ways. If your parents are Internet-savvy, you could even make the website a grandparent̵7;s journal, a place for them to write about their adventures with their grandchild. Arrange a family get-together, the more the merrier, although you will need to make sure both of your parents are able to attend. Invite extended family under the guise you do not get to see enough of each other or you could organize a barbecue, anything that will prevent people from wondering why you are inviting people around to your house. During the get-together, ask your parents to pose for a photograph, just before you take the picture say "Smile, I'm pregnant!" This creates an element of surprise and you'll have their reaction to your news preserved forever in a photograph.
