The Best Gender-Prediction Tools
Becoming a parent is an exciting time for most couples. Welcoming a new baby takes preparation and time. Preparing for a new baby means picking out clothes, choosing colors schemes for a nursery and picking out a name. Gender prediction tools make this time of preparation simpler. Most of these tools are not backed by scientific evidence, but are entertaining for parents to use. Medical ultrasound is the most proven method of gender prediction.

Medical Ultrasound
-
Medical ultrasound is the most common method of predicting the gender of an unborn baby. Generally, a woman with a normal pregnancy will receive two to three routine ultrasounds. The scan done around 18 to 20 weeks will often reveal the gender of the baby if parents want to know. Most doctors will claim at least a 90 percent accuracy with this method, but will not put it down as medical fact in the charts until the baby is born.
Chinese Birth Chart
-
The Chinese Birth Chart method came to be popular when the original chart was found in a tomb in Beijing, China. It had been there for at least 700 years. The purpose of this chart originally was to let families know when to try to conceive a boy. The theory behind it is based on the mother's birthday and the month of conception. It has been said to be 90 percent accurate and many people swear by its validity. Visit chinesegenderchart.info for an example of this tool.
Drano Test
-
This test has no research backing it other than it is entertaining for couples to do. The mother should fill a jar with two to three ounces of first-morning urine after four months of pregnancy and add two tablespoons of crystallized Drano. This should be done outdoors since it can create toxic fumes, which can be harmful to the mother and baby. Step away and wait for the reaction to die down. If it turns brown it is said to be a boy; if it stays the same color or has no change in texture, it is said to be a girl.
Lunar Method
-
This method of gender prediction is based on the phases of the moon. It is often referred to as the Lunar Method. This method is similar to the Chinese Birth Chart, as it is often used during the time of conception in hopes of swaying gender one way or another. Basically, this theory states that during a new moon phase, female sperm is more likely to win the race and full moon phases attract male sperm more readily. On-line Gender Prediction Quiz
-
Many parenting and conception websites offer their own version of on-line gender prediction quizzes. They will claim theirs is the most accurate based on their research and development. These quizzes ask a variety of questions related to conception, mother's health history, mother's preferences in food and how the mother feels during pregnancy. An example of this type of quiz can be found at justmommies.com.
