How to Estimate Your Child's Adult Height
A person's height is influenced by many factors, including genes and the child's environmental conditions. There simply is no scientific way for even a doctor to say how tall a child will be as an adult. However, there are some math tricks that may give you a general idea.
Instructions
Take the height of the child at 2 years of age and double it. For example if your son is 36 inches at age 2, double 36 inches by 2 for a result of 72 inches, or 6 feet tall. These factors need to be adjusted for girls, who are generally shorter than boys. A slightly more complicated method is to add the mother and father height together in inches. If the father is 68 inches tall, and the mother is 62 inches tall, combine those figures for 130 inches. Divide that by two to get 65. Add 2.5. to this number if it's a boy, and subtract 2.5 if it's a girl. Use one of the online height prediction calculators. Plug in the height of the mother, the father, and the child's current age, height, and weight, and hit calculate.
