How to Keep Your Daughter's Hair From Tangling
Detangling your daughter's hair can be a lengthy, painful and annoying experience. The detangling process can be especially unpleasant if your daughter has long, curly hair, which is more likely to tangle than straight hair. Children's hair is prone to tangling because they play hard; they run outdoors regardless if it's windy or rainy, they twist their hair and they roll around while sleeping. To avoid unpleasant detangling sessions, incorporate a regular grooming routine that keeps your daughter's hair free of tangles.

Lather the shampoo. Avoid piling your daughter's hair on her head when lathering it, because this promotes tangling. Allow the hair to naturally fall down. Massage shampoo into your daughter's scalp and a work your way downward to the ends. Rinse off all traces of shampoo with lukewarm water. Apply a detangling conditioner to your daughter's hair. Conditioner lubricates and lays down the hair cuticle, making it less prone to tangling and easier to comb through. Use a conditioner that contains protein and oils, such as citrus or carrot oil. Lather the conditioner and use a wide-tooth comb to equally distribute it through your daughter's hair while removing tangles. Rinse off the conditioner with lukewarm water. Pat your daughter's hair dry. Avoid rubbing the hair vigorously, because this only leads to tangles. Cover parts of the hair with a clean towel and squeeze out the excess water. Spray detangling spray on your child's hair and comb through. Start at the end and gradually work your way upward. Allow your child's hair to air-dry or us a hairdryer to dry her hair. Avoid blow drying the hair all over the place. Aim the nozzle of the dryer down onto the hair so it lays flat. Have a bottle of detangling spray on hand at all times. Use the spray to wet the dry, tangled hair in between washings and comb out the tangles. Use baby oil or coconut oil as an alternative. Braid your daughter's hair before bedtime or put it in a ponytail. Keeping the hair together while sleeping makes it less prone to knotting and tangling. Put a hat on your daughter's head during rough weather. Have your daughter's hair trimmed regularly to keep it healthy. Regular trims keep dry, dead ends, which are prone to tangles, at bay.
