Cupid Activities for Preschool

Cupid was the god of desire, affection and love in Roman mythology. Today, Cupid is known as that cute, little, chubby cherub that shoots arrows at people to make them fall in love. Teach preschool children about Cupid with activities. Use Cupid activities to accompany a Valentine's Day celebration of just for fun.

  1. Crafts

    • Make Cupid's arrow out of simple craft materials. Stick a drinking straw into a gummy heart candy. The point of the heart can serve as the point of the arrow. Tape a couple of small lengths of red or pink crepe paper streamers onto the other end. Fringe the streamers to give it a feathered effect. Another Cupid-themed craft is to have students create a Cupid out of a toilet paper roll. Draw a face on the toilet paper roll. Add paper wings and make an arrow out of a pipe cleaner.

    Performances

    • Create Cupid puppets and engage preschool children in imaginative play or a performance with the puppets. Use a brown paper lunch bag for the base of the puppet. Cut a piece of white felt and glue it onto the bag to make a diaper for the puppet. Add googly eyes and some white paper wings. Have preschool children make up a story about Cupid and perform it for parents. Or have one student dress as Cupid by wearing white feathered wings and carrying an arrow, and have the other children interact with Cupid.

    Games

    • Cut arrow shapes out of red construction paper. Hide arrows around the room. Tell students to search for the arrows. Make enough arrows so that every child has a chance to find one or more arrows. After the game, have students bring their arrows to the teacher and exchange the arrows for heart-shaped candy.
