Programs to Help Children With Math
Promoting the development of a strong mathematical foundation in young children prepares them for success in higher mathematical and science disciplines. Instructional programs based on research help in the effective teaching of mathematical concepts to young children. Computer programs also make children more interested in mathematics. Some of these programs are meant for children with learning disabilities.

Early Literacy
-
Programs to help children acquire mathematical proficiency are more effective when implemented during the younger years. According to research published in the May 2013 "Early Childhood Education Journal," children who go through kindergarten with below average mathematical knowledge continue to have trouble even in later stages.
Language Development
-
Largely, the linguistic ability of a child determines their understanding of mathematical concepts. Children with low language skills might not be able to decode the meaning of mathematical problems. To solve the problems, these children choose alternative strategies that lead to wrong answers. According to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, such children make errors such as substituting instead of adding or assign a wrong number to a given character.
Instructional Programs
-
Instructional programs deal with the methods that instructors use in disseminating mathematical knowledge to children. One such program is Mathematics and Science Cognition and Learning (MSCL), created to support basic and intervention research on mathematical thinking, problems solving, and scientific reasoning. The program also puts emphasis on creating appropriate mathematical instructional programs for children who are not developing normally. According to the National Institute of Health̵7;s Child Development and Behaviour Branch (CDBB), the focus of the MSCL program for children with mathematical learning disabilities is to fund studies into diagnosis, classification, prevention and treatment of such disabilities.
Computer Programs
-
Mathematical computer-based programs make learning math an enjoyable experience for children. These apps and programs help children to have a solid foundation in math, solve mathematical problems confidently, and enjoy solving mathematical problems through entertaining ways. They also inculcate critical thinking skills in young children. According to Commonsense Media, some of the popular apps and programs are Little Digits, Elmo Loves 123s for iPad, Montessori Numberland, Park Math, Marble Math Junior, Montessori Geometry, Teach Me: Kindergarten, and Digitz. These apps and programs incorporate basic mathematical principles.
