How to Make a Hamburger From Construction Paper

Teach children how to build a hamburger collage using construction paper. This is a fun and easy project for an art class, home school or just an afternoon craft. Allow the children to design their favorite condiments and toppings for their hamburgers, which reinforces drawing and cutting skills. Moreover, teach patterns by having the children layer their condiments on the hamburger buns.

Things You'll Need

  • 9 inch x 12 inch black construction paper
  • Crayons
  • Markers
  • Construction paper, various colors
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Instructions

    • 1

Draw a bun shape onto brown construction paper, separating the top and the bottom of the bun. Use scissors to cut the bun out. Draw a hamburger on the brown construction paper, and then cut it out as well. Continue drawing and cutting lettuce shapes and pickle shapes out of green construction paper, making them about the same width as the bun.

    • 2

Cut small circles out of red construction paper to create tomatoes. Make small ovals of red paper to add ketchup to the hamburger. Tear uneven strips of yellow construction paper to make cheese slices. Cut additional small yellow strips to create mustard. Continue cutting any other condiments and toppings you want on the hamburger such as onions, peppers or bacon.

    • 3

Lay a sheet of black construction paper vertically on a hard workspace. Glue the bottom of the bun shape near the bottom of the black construction paper.

    • 4

Glue the red paper ketchup on top of the bun bottom, and then add mustard. Continue gluing layers of condiments. Place the hamburger in the center of the black construction paper. Add additional condiments and cheese to the top of the hamburger, and then place the top of the bun onto the additional condiments.

    • 5

Draw seeds onto the pickles and tomatoes, and add detail to the lettuce and other condiments with markers or crayons.
