Food Fun

• Create string candy necklaces or get creative by stringing them with other household foods, such as marshmallows, cereal and pretzels. You can mix the candy with different snacks, too. Try popcorn, chocolate and even raisins. For more food fun and a quick addition to your daily routine, involve the kids in making dinner or preparing lunch. Use food coloring to make the activity more entertaining and hold color challenges to create the craziest color in the foods. You can assign a food to each child to decorate and color.

Nature Surroundings

• Create a nature box display by going for a walk with your children around an area of your choice. Collect rocks, sticks, leaves and other items for your collection. You can also collect bugs to keep, if you̵7;re up for it. After the walk is complete, decorate your nature display by using art supplies and materials from the outdoors. You can have the children paint in the surroundings from the walk to bring life to the display. After you are done decorating the box, add in the objects from your walk to complete the 3-D display.

Build a Fort

• If it̵7;s a rainy day or just plain cold, stay inside and create a fort for a day full of adventure. You don̵7;t have to purchase anything. You can use blankets and pillows from around the house. Have the children collect blankets and other materials to begin building the fort. You can connect blankets over couches and chairs to form accessible areas. Create a theme to the fort and have the kids help with the layout. You also can use couch cushions and chairs to help as columns to hold the blankets in place.
