How to Become an Independent Girl Scout

Independent, or Juliette, Girl Scouts are able to have many of the same experiences of those girls in troops, without the structured meeting schedule. Some of these Girl Scout experiences include earning badges, selling cookies, and participating in activities with other Girl Scouts.This may be the best option for girls living in an area that doesn't have a troop,or girls without a way to get to meetings, or girls with a very busy schedule.

      Go to "girlscouts.org," click "Join Us," and click "Find a council online."

      Click on your state on the map of the United States.

      Choose the Girl Scout Council that is closest to you, and click on the website link associated with it.

      Check the "Contact Us" section of the website and call or send an email to your local Girl Scout Council.

      Talk with a representative from your local Girl Scout Council about how to get started as an Independent Girl Scout. She will tell you a bit about how the Independent Girl Scout program works in your area.

      Complete the member registration form that the representative from your local Girl Scout Council will send you after contacting her.
