How to Apply for a Maternity Grant

A maternity grant is a grant offered by the United Kingdom government to a low-income family expecting a baby. It is a one-time payment designed to help pay for the expenses of an upcoming child and is funded by the Social Fund. The grant does not have to be repaid and usually is dispersed by direct deposit. The grant amount is 500 pounds, and savings accounts do not factor into grant eligibility.
