How to Size a Belt for a 3 Year Old
Children are always growing, so parents often buy clothes that are a little loose so their child can wear them for the maximum amount of time before they eventually have to move up to the next size. To keep your toddler from tripping on pants that fall down because they won't actually fit him for a few more months, you can use a belt to hold them up just like you would for an adult. Sizing the belt is a matter of measurement, though with a squirming 3-year-old it may prove to be a difficult task.
Things You'll Need
- Measuring tape
Instructions
Remove your child's clothing to allow you to accurately measure his waist, without having to maneuver around shirts or pants. Wrap the measuring tape around your 3-year-old's waist, at about the level of the belly button. Look at the tape where the edge overlaps to see how many inches his waist measures. Add 2 inches to the measurement to determine the belt size. The measurement will be the size of the belt between the buckle to the center hole on the end of the belt.
