How to Get a 3 Year Old to Nap
Naps are very important for a 3-year-old's physical and mental development, according to the nonprofit organization KidsHealth. They also are an important part of a child's routine---naps keep him from becoming overtired, gives the parents time to unwind during the day, and help your child develop a healthy sleeping pattern. Not all toddlers are great nappers, but with time and finding a routine that works, you can help it happen.
Instructions
Establish a routine. Put your 3-year-old down for a nap at the same time every day. This will become familiar, and he will eventually become more cooperative when naptime comes around. Read her a story. Reading to your toddler before she naps can have a calming, soothing effect. Avoid giving your toddler foods high in sugar. Feeding him sugary snacks and drinks will keep him wide awake if served before naptime. Previous:Why Do Toddlers Get the Hiccups? Next:When Should You Call the Doctor for a Fever in a Toddler?
