Fun Things for Bored Teens
Teens are notorious for being "bored to death," particularly during the summer. No matter how many video games and other toys teens have, most of them are always looking for some creativity. There are a lot of fun, creative and inexpensive activities that can bust teen boredom during the summer and other dull moments.

Play Frisbee Golf
-
Frisbee golf can be played anywhere. Get together a group of friends and create your own Frisbee golf course in your backyard or at a local park. Each person attempts to throw a Frisbee at a chosen target in as few throws as possible. Targets can be trash cans, trees, park benches, light poles or anything else that stands out. Play nine or eighteen holes and the person with the lowest score at the end wins the game.
Hold a Swap Meet
-
Gather together a bunch of clothes, toys, video games, compact discs, and other items you no longer want. Have your friends do the same. Gather all of the items in one place and take turns swapping with one another for new items. Any leftover items can be returned to their original owners or donated to charity.
Go on a Picnic
-
Pack some peanut butter sandwiches, chips and drinks in a backpack, grab a big blanket, and invite your friends on a picnic. You can picnic in your backyard or try and discover a new place to enjoy nature. If you picnic at a park, you can enjoy the nature surrounding you or play on the playground equipment. Once the picnic is over, you can also lay out on the blanket and watch the clouds, trying to guess what shape each cloud is.
Movie Marathon
-
Invite your friends over for an all-day movie marathon. Choose a bunch of movies with the same actor, director, or same theme, pop some popcorn, and sit in the dark watching them all day long. Suggested themes include romantic comedies, Disney cartoons, action films or sports movies.
Learn to Cook
-
Find a new recipe and learn how to cook a new meal for your family or friends. Experiment with a variety of recipes to find where your strengths lie and present your creations during a makeshift dinner party, complete with fancy table settings.
Visit the Library
-
Many local libraries have programs for teens throughout the year, especially during the summer. Visit the library and ask for a list of available programs or join the reading program. Browse the books and find something new to read or look through the videos for a random movie.
Make a Scrapbook
-
Find pictures, magazine cut-outs, and other pieces of memorabilia and arrange them into a personal scrapbook. You can use formal scrapbooking materials or simply glue or tape the items on to sheets of computer paper and place them in a three-ring binder. Scrapbooks can make good birthday and holiday gifts for friends and family members as well.
