Awesome Sleepover Games

Imagine a dozen or so preteen girls running around your house at all hours of the night. This is a sleepover, and if you plan one for your daughter, she will treasure the memory for years to come. You can make the sleepover experience easier for you by preparing a few games to keep the girls busy, because you know what they say about idle hands ... particularly at 3 in the morning.

  1. Makeover Madness

    • Makeovers are a blast to give and receive. In this game, the guests give themselves a makeover without a mirror. Provide the girls with a variety of makeup. Restrict access to any mirrors during the game. Give the girls five minutes to apply the makeup to themselves. When the timer beeps, survey the hilarious results. Allow the girls to vote on the craziest makeover. Provide a prize to the winner.

    Catch and Tell

    • Use a permanent marker to write questions on an inflatable beach ball. Gather the girls in a circle and have them toss the ball back and forth. When the ball is caught, the girl must answer the question that her right thumb is touching. Fill the ball with questions such as: Who is your hero? What ice-cream captures your personality and why? What is your perfect pet? If you could be on any television show, what would it be?

    Scary Hide and Seek

    • After sunset, gather the girls for a spooky game of hide and seek. Turn off the lights and designate one girl as "it." She will hide somewhere in the dark with a cell phone. Tell her to call the home phone periodically to give clues regarding her whereabouts. The rest of the girls will search for her based on the clues. Whoever finds "it" gets the next turn.

    Wacky Wardrobes

    • Divide the girls into teams of two. One girl will be the designer and the other will be the model. Give the girls an assortment of household items such as cling wrap, tinfoil, string and paper clips. Tell them to create outfits using only the materials provided. The models can show off their finished looks in a fashion show. Vote on the best outfit and give a prize to the winning team.
