Ask to Prom Ideas

You've been looking forward to prom since the start of high school; and now that the big night is nearing, it's time to ask your potential date to go with you. This question doesn't have to be posed in passing. Instead, wow your date-to-be with a one-of-a-kind way of asking "Will you go to prom with me?"

  1. Run an Ad

    • Ask your potential date to prom in a public way by posing your question in an ad. Talk to a local movie theater to see how you can put an ad in the pre-movie slide show or create a homemade video of your own. Make sure to take your date to the showing early enough to see the "Will you go to prom with me?" slide or preview. You can also run an ad in the newspaper. When it's published, leave a copy on her front porch with the section highlighted. Including a rose on top will be an extra romantic touch.

    Build Something

    • Show your date-to-be how devoted you are by building something in her honor. Collect cardboard boxes from a grocery store and erect a castle in her lawn. Attach a flag or sign with your princess's name. Inside, arrange a note asking her to the ball. Make sure to sign it with "Prince Charming." Or get the party started by building a pinata using papier mache and streamers. Fill it with her favorite candy and a note asking her to prom.

    Sweet Treats

    • The way to your date's heart might be through his stomach, so pose the question in a delicious and creative edible form. Bake him a cake and write the message in frosting on top, or make a pizza and scroll the message in pepperoni. Arrange a pathway of Hersey Kisses that lead to a note asking the big question. Or give your date a fortune cookie with a personalized fortune inside reading, "You will go to prom with me .. right?" Your date-to-be will love the creativity and the treats.

    Spell It Out

    • Ask your potential prom date to the dance by writing the question in creative ways. Use whipped cream or vehicle paint to jot the message on her car. Spell it out with plastic forks stuck in her lawn. Hang a banner with the question across your school's hallway. Invite friends to get involved by giving each one a sign with one word of the question "Will you go to prom with me?" They can line up along her drive home. Make sure you're standing at the very end holding a poster with an arrow pointing down at you.
