How to Announce the Gender of a Baby
Prior to the routine use of ultrasounds and genetic testing, couples announced the birth of their child and the gender simultaneously. Many couples today know the gender prior to birth--a 2007 Gallup poll revealed two-thirds of adults 18-34 and most women over 50 wish to discover the gender of their baby prior to birth. By putting some thought into how and with whom you want to share the news, you can announce the gender of your baby in a manner consistent with your personality and preferences.
Things You'll Need
- Colored candies
- Colored balloons
- T-shirt
- Colored bows or ribbons
- Cake (pink or blue interior)
Instructions
Determine the people with whom you want to share the news. While social networking sites, such as Twitter, Facebook or MySpace offer a quick way to distribute the news to a large group of people, you might prefer to tell a more limited group. Decide whether you want to tell everybody in a straightforward manner or in a fun way. While an email with the announcement or a phone call can make an efficient way to distribute the news, you might elect to share the news in a number of creative ways. Any method of sharing the news works well, so choose the way that works best with your personality and individual situation. Gather any props or supplies you want to use to creatively announce the gender, such as colored candies or T-shirts or balloons. You might need to special order T-shirts from vendors so allow time for these items to arrive. Send out the gender announcement or invite people over for a reveal party. You can inform guests of the significance of the gathering or you can surprise them.
