How to Get Pregnant After the Nuva Ring
The Nuva Ring is a monthly birth control method that consists of slow release hormones on a vaginally inserted, flexible plastic ring. The ring remains in place for three weeks and is removed for one week per month. Becoming pregnant after using Nuva Ring may take a few cycles as the hormone balance in the body returns to natural levels. Cycles may be irregular after using this method of birth control. Through charting cycles and measuring basal body temperature, it is possible to pinpoint ovulation, so intercourse can be timed to the best possible advantage.
Things You'll Need
- Basal body temperature thermometer
- Calendar
- Ovulation predictor kit (optional)
Instructions
Finish the final cycle of the Nuva Ring. Remove the ring and wait for your menstrual period to commence. Begin charting basal body temperature. After waking up and before rising, take your temperature using the basal body temperature thermometer. Record this temperature on the calendar. Mark the first day of full, red bleeding as cycle day one on the calendar. Continue charting temperature each morning. If desired, begin using an ovulation predictor kit in the middle of the cycle. These kits detect the surge of lutenizing hormone, which heralds ovulation. When the basal body temperature shows a significant increase or the ovulation predictor kit gives a positive result, this is the most fertile period. Have intercourse before, on and after this day to ensure the best chances of conception.
