How to Relieve Bladder Pressure During Pregnancy
Bladder pressure is an uncomfortable problem, which usually occurs in late pregnancy, due to the low position of the baby as he prepares to enter the birth canal. This pressure can lead to frequent urination and embarrassing accidents, symptoms which many women would prefer to avoid. Relieving bladder pressure during pregnancy can be achieved by exercises, such as Kegels, and careful consumption of beverages.

Avoid diuretics such as caffeine. Teas, coffees, and soft drinks can cause the need to urinate to increase, which in turn increase bladder pressure. Avoid drinking fluids before bedtime. While it is important to drink an appropriate amount of fluids daily, reducing your fluid intake before bedtime can avoid uncomfortable bladder pressure during the night and while lying down. Perform control movements, such as Kegel exercises, to increase control over the bladder. Squeeze the muscles used to control the flow of urine and hold for 10-15 seconds. Do 10-15 repetitions of this exercise several times per day to strengthen these muscles; this can decrease the urgency and frequency of urination and help control bladder pressure. Empty your bladder completely when you urinate. Do not hold in urine if you feel the urge to use the bathroom. Not only will this relieve bladder pressure, it can help prevent uncomfortable urinary tract infections.
