Gov. Grants for Single Moms

The federal government provides different types of support programs to single mothers. Support programs include federal grants that provide funding opportunities and different types of monetary and social service assistance. From educational scholarships to health services, single mothers may avail child care and personal development support from the government. The extent of assistance and eligibility depends on the nature of the program. Single mothers may have to be evaluated before qualifying for any grant.

  1. Desegregation of Public Education

    • The main objective of the Public Education program is to provide equal educational opportunities to citizens. Particularly, the grant seeks to eliminate discrimination based on gender, sex, race, color, religion and national origin. The grant is made available to single parents or parents whose children have been discriminated against based on definite backgrounds. The program may help carry out legal proceedings for single parents or parents whose children were denied school admission or were forced to stop attending school on discriminatory reasons. Further, the program also provides assistance services of an Attorney General, provided there is denial of equal protection. The Desegregation of Public Education program ensures that individuals get equal funding opportunities and financial assistance. Under the program, the Attorney General may also intervene with school districts to help overcome issues of discrimination and unequal participation. The Desegregation of Public Education is under the Department of Justice and the office of Civil Rights Division.
