How to Get an Overall Grade From a Percentage Grading System

Calculating your overall grade for a course may be necessary if you have a big test coming up, and you need a high enough grade to pass the course. Most assignments are given a certain amount of points. These points are translated to a percentage grade. Your final grade will depend on how many points you have achieved throughout the class. These points will be calculated into an overall percentage grade.

Instructions

    • 1

Ask your teacher for the percentage points you have earned for a specific task if you receive a letter grade.

    • 2

Divide the percentage you received by how much the assignment is worth for the overall average. For example, if you received a 95 percent out of 100 percent and the assignment is worth 15 percent of your grade, multiply 95 by .15. This equals 14.25.

    • 3

Add together all of the averages you have received to calculate the overall grade out of 100. Add 14.25 to the other grades to get your average.
