How to Sanitize Baby Toys

Just about anyone who's ever been around babies knows that the first place babies put anything is into their mouths. This is why it̵7;s important to periodically sanitize baby toys. Dirt and germs can accumulate on baby toys, and when babies stick the dirty toys in their mouths, the germs go right into their little bodies. You don̵7;t have to sanitize baby toys every day, but the Fisher-Price website recommends doing so about once a month, in addition to after a play date with other children, when your baby is recovering from an illness or when you notice the toys are dirty.

Things You'll Need

  • Rags
  • Dish soap
  • Bucket or sink
  • 1 tbsp. chlorine bleach
  • Dish towel or dish rack

Instructions

      Wash the toys with a rag and warm, soapy water prior to sanitizing. This will get rid of any dirt and grime on the surface of the toys.

      Fill a clean bucket or sink with 1 gallon of warm water. Add 1 tbsp. chlorine bleach to the water.

      Put the baby toys in the water so they̵7;re completely submerged. Let them soak for five minutes.

      Take the toys out without rinsing. Lay them on a towel or dish rack to air dry completely.

      Dip a clean rag into the bleach solution. Wring it out well so it̵7;s not dripping wet.

      Wipe down larger toys and equipment with the rag to sanitize these items.
