How to Ask Parents to Go to a Concert
Your favorite band is coming to town and you and your friends want to go and see them perform. Follow these steps to create a plan of action designed to convince your parents to let you go to the concert.
Instructions
Ask a group of your friends who are also fans of the band's music whether they would like to attend the concert with you. Select friends whom your parents know, and ideally, friends whose parents are on good terms with yours. Save your money well in advance of the concert, and even before you ask your parents if you can go. If you have the funds available to pay for your own ticket, you might have a better chance of convincing your parents to give you permission. Choose in advance the best time to ask your parents about the concert. It's a good idea to wait until after they are relaxed and in a pleasant mood. Map out a schedule of events for the night of the concert before asking your parents. Know in advance exactly which of your friends is able to go, the time of the concert, how you will get to the venue, how you will get home from the concert and what time you plan on arriving home after the concert ends. You can increase your likelihood of receiving your parents' permission if you can demonstrate that you have a concrete plan in place. Broach the topic using a calm and casual tone of voice. Inform them that you are mature and responsible, have saved your own money for the ticket and that you plan to attend with good friends. Try asking your parents one more time after one to two weeks has passed if they initially refused to let you attend. Allowing them time to think about their decision might change their minds.
