  1. City of Edmonton Summer Camps

    • The City of Edmonton summer camps are inclusive. All children, including those that are disabled, are welcome to the wide variety of programs hosted in the city. Cheryl Olvera offers Learn to Sing classes to children from ages seven to 10. As of 2010, Olvera teaches the children professional vocal techniques including body posture, breath exercises and tips on how to warm up vocal chords before practicing and giving a performance. The week-long Rock Star Camp is an all day program for youth ages 9 to 12 years, and is offered three times throughout the summer. This popular program provides vocal and instrumental instruction as well as dance choreography, costume design and playing in a band.

    YMCA of Edmonton, Alberta

    • The YMCA Edmonton summer camps are also inclusive. The half-day preschool camps that specifically offer music in addition to singing are Jitter Bugs, for 3- to 4-year-olds, and Crafty Critters for kids four to five years of age. The YMCA has 10 camp programs for children aged six to nine years offers, and each include singing songs. However, the "Art-rageous" program focuses on projects to stimulate a love of the arts. Camps for kids nine to 12 years of age offers a performance art-specific program called "Artistic Expressions".

    Camp He Ho Ha

    • Camp Health, Hope, and Happiness began in the 1950s as a Kiwanis South Edmonton Club project to provide a recreational facility for disabled kids and adults. In collaboration with the Associated Canadian Travelers Club of Edmonton, the Diabetic Association, the Edmonton Cerebral Palsy Association, Imperial Oil Ltd. and The Muttart Foundation, Camp He Ho Ha is now a first-class year-round facility. The summer music camps that Camp He Ho Ha provides are included in the Performing Arts camp programs. Each disabled childrens' program is specially designed to meet the needs of the attending group.
