Supplies for Parents to Bring to Daycare
According to a 2006 survey by the U.S. Census Bureau, about 11.2 million children younger than 5 are in child care arrangements. Most day cares provide some supplies and food for the children they care for, but parents need to provide items, too.

Infants

Babies need more personal supplies than any other age group. It's often easier to pack a box of supplies to last a month than to pack a daily bag of everything. Your box should be clearly and boldly labeled with your child's name. Fill it with two packs of diapers or enough cloth diapers to last a week. One to two bins of baby wipes and a tube of diaper rash ointment or baby powder. Also include at least four burp cloths and bibs and two to five changes of clothes. Put prepared bottles and jars of baby food in a daily diaper bag, along with special loveys, pacifiers or other personal items baby uses throughout the day.
Toddlers / Preschoolers
-
This age group needs nearly the same items as the infant group. Again, packing a monthly box is often easier. Put one to two packs of diapers in the box, along with one to two packs of diaper wipes. If your toddler is potty training, include at least five pairs of potty training undergarments. For toddlers still in diapers, include diaper rash cream or any special ointment or powder you use. Pack at least five bibs, two extra changes of clothes and a paint smock or big shirt to cover your toddler's clothes when he does artwork. Use a daily diaper bag to bring any special toy or blanket used for sleeping.
School-Age
-
Kids who go to school full time do not need many additional supplies at day care. Pack requested items in a box that is clearly labeled with your child's name. The box should include a change of clothes in case she has an accident or gets extremely dirty or wet. Sunscreen also might be needed during certain seasons.
