Gideon Story Jar

• In one craft based on the story, read the story of Gideon in Judges 6-8. Then, ask your child to draw the story of Gideon. Use glitter for the torches, if desired. Put your child's paper inside a large glass jar, facing out. Glue the paper into place.

Gideon̵7;s Trumpets

• Another idea is to simulate the trumpets that Gideon and the Israelites used when they were approaching the camp. Cut out two horn-shaped pieces of paper, shaped like a triangle with an extended top squared off. Take an empty toilet paper roll and glue each piece of paper onto one side of the roll, with the wide end facing out. Glue or draw buttons on the top to make valves for the trumpet.

Torches, Trumpets, Tents and Jars

• One of the best ways to help your child remember Bible lessons is to act out the story. Use crafts to recreate the story of Gideon and the Israelites surrounding the camp. Before doing the craft, take pieces of paper and fold them in half to make a tent. Then, in your back yard or in an open field or grassy area, set the papers up to look like a group of tents. To make a lantern, have your child take a paper towel roll and wrap it with red tissue paper. Then, at the top of the paper towel roll, tape strips of red, yellow and orange strips of red tissue paper. For trumpets, give each child a kazoo. To simulate the jars, fill balloons with water and give one to each child. After putting the crafts together, have your child quietly sneak outside and surround the ̶0;camp.̶1; Then, at your signal, have your child and his friends throw their ̶0;jars,̶1; blow their ̶0;trumpets̶1; and yell, ̶0;a sword for the Lord and for Gideon!̶1;
