With all the positive benefits youth groups offer, it's hard to understand people who don't want to give one a try. If you'd like to invite a friend or acquaintance to youth group but aren't sure how, read on for some helpful tips.

Instructions

    • 1

Let your group leader know in advance that you have invited a friend. The leader will hopefully make a special effort to make your friend feel welcome and at ease.

    • 2

Avoid seeming like you're inviting your friend along because you're concerned about his or her well-being. Even if you are trying to rope a heathen into the church, sounding like an evangelist might scare your friend away.

    • 3

Fill your friend in on the kinds of activities your youth group usually does. Paintball, picnics, lock-ins and movies are all enticing, fun and standard youth group fare.

    • 4

Give your friend directions to your meeting place and let him or her know what time your youth group meets. It's a good idea to make sure your friend's actually free on the day or night of your next meeting so there isn't a conflict of interests.

    • 5

Let your friend know that even though youth group is fun, it's still a religious event. Knowing that there'll be preaching and prayers helps your friend make an informed decision before responding to your invite.

    • 6

Offer to take your friend to your group. This saves them the hassle of getting a ride or driving. It also reduces the anxiety of having to walk into an unfamiliar church alone.
