Fun Indoor Games for Boys

Even if it's cold and rainy, keeping your little guy from being bored--without the aid of television--isn't too tough when you let your imagination run wild. Guide them through some fun games and enjoy the results of their having fun while maintaining your sanity.

  1. Caves and Dragons

    • In this simple game using imagination and basic household items, you help the boys construct a "cave" in living room or large enough space, using sheets, chairs and pegs. Make sure it is in place and the boys can play dragon slayer together. One of the boys can be the scary dragon while one or more other will use their imaginary swords to fight the beast.

    Hide the Object

    • Using any ordinary object, which can be anything from a stuffed animal, vitamin bottle, or drinking cup, play this fun hide and seek game with the boys, according to a recommendation from Momscape. For younger boys, hide the object in plain view, at least for the first few tries, to see if they can find the object. Use this as an opportunity for young children to learn their alphabet by finding objects that correspond to letters of the alphabet. For older boys, hide the objects in more challenging places.

    Jungle Knots

    • In this fun and simple game, boys stand in a circle and place their right hands into the ring, one on top of the others' hands, then add the left hands on top. The object of the game is to see if they can untangle the "knot" by stepping over, ducking under people, or turning around. Whatever happens, they can't let go of hands. This suggestion by Coolest-Kid-Birthday-Parties.com is sure to keep the boys active and laughing.

    Indoor Foot Volleyball

    • The boys are in for some activity with this game suggested by the Family Education website. Set up a play area with a division line, using yarn, and create two separate times on either side of the line. Have them move around crab-style--face up, leaning back on their hands and socked feet. Toss the balloon ball in for the game to start or one of the children can kick it into play. The players then kick the balloon back and forth, as in volleyball, not letting it touch the floor. Choose your point goal--15 is suggested by Family Education, and have the teams play until one reaches that goal.
