Architecture Camps for Kids
Summer camp is a popular way for children to experience new things while having fun. Children and teenagers who are interested in architecture can find opportunities to learn about it at specialized summer camps. Architecture camps give children an opportunity to explore the field in depth and possibly benefit from hands-on experience alongside professional architects.

Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation Architecture Camp
-
Frank Lloyd Wright is considered by many to be America's premiere architect. Since his death, the Frank Lloyd Wright foundation has worked to educate the public about his life and work. Every summer, a camp is offered as part of the foundation's Education Outreach Program, or EOP. Located at Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin home in Spring Green, Wis., the camp is offered to students in grades 5-12. The program focuses on critical thinking to guide its campers through two separate architecture projects.
On the Taliesin website, Shawn Rorke-Davis, EOP director for the Foundation, says, ̶0;Architecture Camp encourages creative thinking, helps prevent summer learning loss in key curriculum areas and provides students an opportunity to channel their passion, diversity and talent and have fun."

Kid Architecture Camp
-
At Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, the Division of Continuing Education reaches out to more than just adult learners. Campers between the ages of 9 and 18 can participate in the Kid Architecture camps directed by Architecture professor Jon Davey. Kid Architecture offers day camp programs for elementary school students and weeklong residential camps for middle and high school students. All of the programs are held on the SIUC campus, though they take field trips off site to look at historic buildings and construction sites. Campers learn about design and famous architects and experiment with the different tools of architecture during the sessions.
