Games for kids have gone from miniature board games to handheld game counsels to touch screen electronics that hold games. The most famous touch screen games are stored on Apple handheld technology. The games can be educational or just plain fun.

Explore the games available as an application designed for certain Apple technologies. The touchscreen items created by Apple include the iPad, iTouch and iPhone. All these systems allow you to download games for free or for a small fee. The games are created for all ages and difficulty levels. For example, Angry Birds is designed for elementary-age children to adults. As a person passes each level they are advanced to the next level, where the difficulty and skill gets harder. Make sure a parent supervises the games that are played by younger children (or that were accidentally download, due to graphic content such as violence or language).

VTech offers two types of touchscreen gaming systems that are geared toward children between the ages of 3 to 7. The first one is VTech MobiGo, which is a game system that has a slide out keyboard and a touchscreen. This system allows kids to learn math, colors, shapes, logic and spelling. The other gaming item is V. Reader Interactive E-Reading System, which provides a child with the opportunity to enhance his reading skills while being able to touch the screen for different sounds or additional aspects of a story.

The Leapster Explorer offers touchscreen capabilities through the various games, e-Books and videos that can be u-stored on the gaming system. This system offers entertainment and educational games for children ages 4 through 9. The games are centered around famous characters such as Buzz and Woody, Dora, Diego and Little Einsteins. Each game incorporates a learning element such as spelling, matching, colors or shapes, while seeing characters act out the motions. The gaming system and games are sold separately. Also, many games can be downloaded with purchased codes, which are bought separately at stores in the Leapster aile or online at Leapster.com.
Classic Games

Children can play classical games with touchscreen capability. Some available games are Yahtzee, Connect Four, Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader, Sudoku and Solitaire. These games are geared for children 8 years of age and older. Some of these games, such as Connect Four, allow more than one player to play at a time.
