How to Use Color Wonder Finger Paints

The joys of finger painting delight most youngsters. With the feel of the paint oozing between little fingers and the bright colors smearing onto the paper, the process of creating works of art can be enthralling for little ones. If you feel less than enthused about the mess that accompanies traditional finger painting, choose an innovative and neater option instead. Color Wonder finger paints enable finger painting activities with less mess.

Things You'll Need

  • Newspapers or plastic tablecloth
  • Smock

Instructions

    • 1

Prepare your child̵7;s work surface to use the Color Wonder finger paints. Spread newspapers or a plastic tablecloth over the table and place a smock on your little one to protect her clothing.

    • 2

Place a piece of the special Color Wonder paper on the work surface for painting. Position the hand-shaped paint palette near the paper for easy access.

    • 3

Uncover the five containers of paint that sit on each finger of the palette. Show your child each paint color and point out the purple sponge located in the center of the hand. Explain the purpose of the sponge to your youngster -- she can use it for wiping paint off her fingers, as necessary.

    • 4

Encourage your child to begin finger painting on the paper by dipping a finger into the paint and applying it to the paper. These finger paints are slightly different from standard finger paints, because it takes a short time for the colors to appear after the paints touch the paper.

    • 5

Supervise your youngster̵7;s painting and provide positive feedback as she works to create a masterpiece. When she finishes, set the paper aside until the paints dry -- about 30 minutes.

    • 6

Wash your child̵7;s hands with soap and water to remove finger paints.

    • 7

Clean up the painting area promptly. If the finger paints contacted the work surface, wipe the area with a damp cloth. If finger paints contact clothing, launder normally to remove the paints.
