Instructions
Create A Theme
Decide if your book will be simple, fancy, classic, funny, serious, religious, spiritual or trendy. Make a list of items you would like to put on the cover and back of your book such as pictures of teddy bears, balloons, candy, robots, toys, etc. Try not to overwhelm the birth mom who will be viewing your book with too many images. Use color and black-and-white film if you wish, or choose one. Include pictures of family and friends and write captions for each one. Include an amusing anecdote or funny story to show that you use humor in life. Creating the Inside of the Book
Write a short letter to the birth mom on page one introducing yourself as a couple. Include pictures of you and your family with caption. On one page put at the top "___ (Name of adoptive dad's) family" then include various pictures in a collage form. On the next page do the same as step two, only supply the adoptive mom's family with pictures. On another page include wedding and engagement pictures with the caption above written as "Merging of Two Families." Include a couple of lines about your wedding if you wish. On the following page copy and paste a color picture of your house along with a photo of any pets and their names, if applicable. Add a travel section of your various vacations if it applies and include pictures along with short descriptions of what they are. Including Other Children
Dedicate a page or two to any other children you have along with pictures and brief descriptions. You can also use clip art in addition to photos. If your other child is adopted include photos of his or her adoption finalization celebration, vacation pictures, leisure photos and numerous other snapshots. Show balance in your family with your pictures. Show something unique like a collection, unusual pet or interesting hobby that your other child might be part of. Last Page
Wrap up your last page with a photo of you as a couple along with your child in the picture. Underneath, write a brief summary and a sentiment regarding your wishes for the birth mom. Accurately represent yourself. Have an objective person look over your book before turning it over to the agency.
