Mei Tai Hip Carry Instructions
The Mei Tai baby carrier is a fabric carrying system that allows you to securely and safely tie your baby onto your body for easy carrying. While every woman will find a different position most comfortable, a popular tying method is the hip-carrying pose. You can easily secure your little bundle of joy on your hip with a few simple wraps of the Mei Tai straps and be on your way, knowing the baby is comfortable and so are you.
Instructions
Hold the Mei Tai upside down by the lower straps with the patterned side facing your body. The upper straps of the carrier should be hanging down on the floor. Place the carrier against your hip on the side you want to wear your baby. The straps in your hand should be place against your chosen hip. Tie the straps around your body and knot them around the opposite hip. Hold you baby on your hip, just above the space where the carrier is tied. Lift the rest of the carrier up against your baby's back. The patterned side of the carrier should now be facing out. Find the upper strap that is on the front of your body and pass it over the shoulder opposite your baby. Let the strap hang vertically down behind your back. Pass the remaining upper strap that has not been moved behind your back and around your waist until it comes around and behind your baby. This strap should pass horizontally around your body. Pull on the vertical strap that is hanging down your back. Bring this strap around your waist in the direction of carrying hip. Pass the strap around until it meets with the other strap behind the baby. Cross the straps under your baby's bottom and bring them around your waist again. Tie the straps behind your back or on the empty hip, wherever it feels more comfortable for you.
