How to Use a Baby Bjorn Carrier

When you and your baby like to remain close throughout the day, a BabyBjorn carrier can provide hands-free holding. The BabyBjorn can hold infants between 8 and 25 pounds while you hang out at home or venture out and about. Babies often enjoy spending extra time near parents, and both Mom and Dad can use this carrier to wear a baby.

Instructions

    • 1

Familiarize yourself with the BabyBjorn carrier prior to using it for the first time to ensure you understand how it works. You will find three sets of buckles -- the head support buckle hear the top of the carrier, the side latch buckles at both the left and right sides and the sliding size adjustment buckle at the bottom of the carrier. The straps cross in back and come around to fasten into the size adjustment buckle, the side latch buckles and the head support buckle. You can adjust the height of the size adjustment buckle higher for a newborn and lower for a larger baby.

Slip the straps onto your back with the cross point between your shoulder blades and the BabyBjorn logo on the front strap so it sits on the left side of your chest.

    • 3

Position the size adjustment buckle at its highest position for a baby between 21 and 23 1/2 inches long. Position the buckle in the middle area for a baby between 23 1/2 inches and 26 inches and at the lowest position for a baby over 26 inches long.

    • 4

Insert both buckles on the straps into the front sliding buckle to create the seat of the carrier. Your baby's legs will go on either side of this buckle. Insert the left side latch buckle into the groove on the left strap and click it securely. Leave the right side latch buckle unbuckled while you position your baby.

    • 5

Place your baby into the carrier so he faces you with his legs straddling the center buckle. Slide one arm through the left armhole. Insert the right side latch buckle into the groove on the right strap and click it securely.

    • 6

Latch the head support buckles at the front, top of the carrier to the straps. Make the head support strap tighter by pulling on the support strap. Create more room around your child̵7;s head by loosening the straps. It̵7;s important not to tighten the head support too much, because you could reduce fresh air around your child̵7;s head.

    • 7

Latch the leg straps on the straps to the buttons on each side of the carrier if your baby is between 8 and 11 pounds.

    • 8

Adjust the height of the carrier by pulling forward on the straps located at each of your sides. Pull one strap, lift your baby gently and then adjust the other strap to match. Your baby is at the correct carrying height when you can tilt your head down without effort and kiss the top of her head.
