How to Sew a Crib Sheet

Making a crib sheet at home allows you to save money and pick the exact material you want. Crib sheets are an easy sewing project for both expert sewers and beginners. You can make the sheet in about an hour. It's a good idea to make a couple, so you will have back-ups. Pick materials that are soft and will match the decor in the nursery.

      Cut the fabric with scissors into a piece that is 45 by 67 inches.

      Fold the fabric in half and then in half again so it's folded into fourths. Cut an eight inch square from all four corners.

      Bring the two sides of one corner together and pin. Repeat with the other three sides. Sew using a sewing machine, taking out the pins as you go.

      Serge the fabric all the way around. Create a casing by folding down the fabric 1/4 of an inch down all the way around to place the elastic through. Pull the elastic through the casing all the way around the material. Sew the ends together.

      Sew the casing closed with your sewing machine.
