Peg Perego Car Seat Instructions

These are the instructions for the Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30, one of the premium car seats offered by Italian maker Peg-Perego. This car seat comes with a detachable base. It is good for babies up to 30 pounds or 30 inches tall. It has extra padding for small newborns, which is removable. It exceeds all safety standards, and comes equipped with a cushioned five-point harness.

  1. Installing the Base

    • Place the base of the car seat on the seat of your car. Before attaching the base check the gauge on the side of the base to see if the base is level. The bubble in the gauge should be completely visible. If the bubble is not completely visible, push down on the base with one hand and turn the adjustment knob with the other hand until the bubble is completely visible.

Slide the car's seat belt strap through the two side slots on the base. Buckle the seat belt, making sure it stays taunt. Pull out the remainder of the seat belt until it won't come out any farther. Let the seat belt retract and then pull it again. The second time you pull it the seat belt should not move. Pulling it all the way out and letting it retract should lock the seat belt in place. Attach the Surefix Clip to the shoulder strap of the seat belt for extra security. The Surefix Clip should come with the car seat.

After the base is secure, check the gauge on the side again. If you cannot completely see the bubble, you will need to adjust the tilt of the car seat again.

The Primo Viaggio also comes equipped with the latch system. If your car is also equipped with the latch system, you can forgo the traditional installation instructions, and simply attach all the coordinating latches. You will still need to make sure the base is level by checking the gauge on the side of the base.

    Installing the Infant Carrier

    • Place the baby into the infant carrier of the car seat. Buckle the five-point harness in the infant carrier. The shoulder straps should be just above the baby's shoulders. The chest buckle should be attached right under the baby's armpits. The side straps should cross the baby right at the hips. If any of the belts do not cover the baby where they are supposed to, it could endanger the baby in an accident. You will need to remove the baby from the car seat and adjust the straps accordingly.

Once the baby is properly strapped into the infant carrier, carry the infant carrier out to the vehicle. The infant carrier should face the rear of the vehicle. Place the infant carrier over the base and firmly push down until the carrier clicks into place. If you try to pull the carrier out, you shouldn't be able to at this point. Lower the handle on the infant carrier. To remove the infant carrier from the base, pull the handle on the back of the infant carrier with one hand, and lift it up with your other hand.
