How to Buy BPA-Free Pacifiers
While it's true that pacifiers can contain Bisphenol A, better known as BPA, it is not in the soft nipple part that the baby puts in his mouth. That is made from silicone or latex. It is the harder plastic shield that can contain BPA. According to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, though, transfer of the BPA chemical from the shield to the baby is debatable. However, some health professionals, such as those from Stanford University, recommend babies use pacifiers that are BPA-free.

Brick and Mortar Stores
Examine the front of the pacifier package and look for the words, "BPA Free." Because this is a selling point for the product, this information is sometimes highlighted. For example, the words might be bold, colored, or in an oval shaped icon. Read the advantages of that particular brand, often in a list format if you don't easily see the information on the front. If it is a BPA-free pacifier, it will say it somewhere on the package. Take the selected pacifier and pay for it at the cashier with cash, credit or check in the same manner as you buy other goods from stores. On the Web
Click the description or picture of the pacifier in an online store that sells pacifiers. Read the description of the product. It will say somewhere on that page that it is BPA-free if that is the case. If you don't see this wording anywhere in the pacifier's description, it likely contains BPA. Click the "Buy" or "Add to Cart" button and proceed to the checkout system for the selected pacifier. Buy it with a credit card or PayPal in the same manner as you buy other online products.
