Britax Car Seat Cleaning Instructions

Britax is a company that manufactures car seats. A baby or toddler is placed in a car seat to keep him safe and secure in the event of a car accident. The company manufactures car seats with and without removable covers. The cleaning process varies based on the type of Britax car seat you own. Britax car seats should be cleaned as needed.

      Unbuckle the car seat. Remove the car seat from your car.

      Tilt the car seat forward to remove crumbs or use a shop vacuum or hand-held vacuum cleaner.

      Remove the cover from the Britax car seat. Although the process varies slightly based on the model of car seat you own, the basic idea is still the same. Unbuckle the shoulder harness from in the back. The harness straps push forward, through the shell and the cover to release the top half of the cover. The bottom half is removed by maneuvering the cover free from the lower straps and buckles. Once loosened, the cover lifts up for removal.

      Fill a sink or laundry tub with cold water and a mild laundry detergent. Place the cover in the soapy water.

      Use a cloth or sponge to hand-wash the Britax seat cover.

      Rinse the cover in cold water to remove soap residue. Allow the cover to line-dry or air-dry.

      Fill a bucket with warm water and a squirt of liquid dish soap. Dip a sponge in the soapy water and wash the car seat shell, buckles and straps.

      Wipe down the shell, buckles and straps with a dampened cloth to remove soap residue. Use a towel to dry everything.

      Place the dry car seat cover back onto the car seat shell.

    Non-Removable Cover

      Unbuckle the car seat. Remove the car seat from your car.

      Tilt the car seat forward to remove crumbs or use a shop vacuum or hand-held vacuum cleaner.

      Fill a small bucket or container with a mild laundry detergent and cool water. Dip a sponge or soft-bristled brush into the mixture. Rub the soap into the cover to clean it. Dip a sponge into the soapy water and clean the harness, buckles and the backside or shell of the car seat.

      Wipe down the entire car seat with a dampened cloth to remove all soap residue. Continue rinsing and re-dampening the cloth as needed until all of the soap residue has been removed.

      Dry the buckle, harness and back side of the car seat with a dry towel. Press a dry towel into the covered portion of the car seat to soak up as much excess water as possible. Allow the car seat to air-dry completely.
