How to Clean Baby Bottle Nipples
It's easy to spread germs to your baby, and it's also easy to prevent it. Taking an extra few minutes each evening to clean that day's baby bottles, including the nipples, is one way to keep your baby safe from germs. Because of their shape, nipples can become a breeding ground for bacteria. Therefore, you must ensure that you thoroughly clean them before letting your precious little one put them back in his mouth.
Things You'll Need
- Nipple brush
- Dish soap
- Tongs
- Towel
Instructions
Separate the nipple from the rest of the bottle after each use. If you don't separate the pieces, the bottom edge of the nipple will not get clean. Rinse the baby bottle nipple under warm running water. If desired, set the nipple and other rinsed bottle pieces aside to thoroughly clean at a later time, such as the end of the day. Soak the nipples and other bottle pieces in hot, soapy water. Then, use a nipple brush to clean inside the nipples. Squeeze soapy water through the holes. Remove the nipples with a pair of clean tongs and rinse them under hot, running water. Dry them on a clean towel, along with the other clean bottle pieces. Alternatively, clean dishwasher-safe nipples and bottles in the dishwasher. As long as your hot water heater is set to above 108 degrees Fahrenheit, the dishwasher is a safe place to wash baby bottle equipment.
