How to Make a Paper Towel Diaper

Sometimes parents or caregivers run out of diapers due to forgetfulness or underestimating how many are necessary for a trip away from home. A makeshift diaper is necessary to prevent messy accidents. Paper towels are inexpensive and typically an item that is available in many households, gas stations and some even in vehicles for quick cleanups. Whether you require a quick diaper before running to the store or are in need of a miniature diaper for a baby doll or baby shower decor, paper towels are inexpensive and readily available for the project.

Things You'll Need

  • Strong, sticky tape or diaper pins
  • Tiny safety pins or school glue
  • Rose ribbon embellishment (optional)
  • Cardboard (optional)

Instructions

  1. Makeshift Diaper

    • 1

Tear off a long strip of paper toweling-- approximately four to eight sheets--depending on the size of your baby.

    • 2

Fold the strip in half lengthwise and then in half again or until it is the approximate length of the diapers you normally use.

    • 3

Place the diaper on your baby in your normal fashion. Use strong, sticky tape or diaper pins to close the sides

Baby Shower Decor or Doll Diaper

    • 4

Rip off a paper towel from the roll.

    • 5

Cut the paper towel into a triangle shape with scissors. The size depends on what type of decor you want or the size of the baby doll. You may have to experiment with the size, but paper towels are relatively inexpensive.

    • 6

Lay the triangle shape flat on a work surface with the pointed end toward you.

    • 7

Lift the pointed end up to the top edge of the triangle shape.

    • 8

Pull each side of the triangle shape toward the middle. This leaves leg openings at the bottom sides.

    • 9

Secure the miniature diaper with a tiny safety pin or glue the sides and pointed end together with school glue. Slip the diaper onto the baby doll or use it as baby shower decor.
