Fun Things to Do With Newborns
Having an infant at home can seem lonely, even with the most dedicated partner at your side. Now that you've bonded with your little one, you're probably eager to get out of the house. Whether you will be packing up baby by yourself, or heading out with friends and families, there are fun things you can do with your newborn. Check with your pediatrician for guidance on when it's appropriate to take your new baby out into the world.

Hit the Library
-
Chances are you have not been in your local library since you completed that high school research project long ago. However, your library is a fantastic resource for you and baby. Sure, increasing literacy is wonderful, but the library offers much more than books. Most libraries offer developmental programs that use music, puppets and rhymes to stimulate newborns through toddlers. Additionally, these classes are a great way to meet other parents and maybe even your baby's first friends.
Catch a Film
-
Going to the movies with a newborn might sound crazy. However, many theaters offer special baby-friendly showings for the stroller brigade, complete with lower volume and higher lights. This can be a perfect time to bring your little one along to catch the latest blockbuster. Baby may be happy to be held in your arms and may even sleep through the whole film.
Take a Fitness Class
-
Baby will love being part of your yoga poses. During the frantic, exhausting first weeks of your baby's life, doing a physical activity is probably the last thing on your mind. However, just like prenatal yoga helped you prepare for the big day, doing a mom-and-baby fitness or yoga class is a great way to nurture your physical and mental health. Remember that baby isn't the only one who needs some TLC.
Get Crafty
-
On the days when you can't get out of the house, getting crafty can keep you from going stir-crazy. Lucky for you, that bundle of joy is -- for now at least -- a willing participant in your crafting. Check out mommy blogs such as Mila's Daydreams for inspiration. Dress up your new addition in those beautiful outfits you received as gifts and take pics to post on your own mommy blog. After all, baby can't fight you, yet!
