Baby Shower Games That Aren't Lame
If there was an acceptable way for a pregnant woman to simply stay home with her feet up, have gifts and food delivered to her home without having to endure lame baby shower games that involve wrapping toilet paper around her swollen abdomen, most moms-to-be may choose this over having a party. But alas, a baby shower is a rite of passage, and therefore expected. Planning and preparation are key to having an enjoyable and relaxing gathering, and part of the fun includes a few games for a good time without being lame.

Baby Bottle Drinking Race
-
Baby the guests with easy games. Purchase several plastic baby bottles from a bargain store, fill them with water, lemonade or juice, and let participants have a drinking race for a timed few seconds. The one who drinks the most wins.
Play Dough Baby
-
Purchase a couple large containers of play dough and set them up next to index cards. Each guest writes their name on an index card. Guests mold a baby with the dough and set it on the reverse side of their index card so the name is on the back. Announce the start and end time of the game, allowing for guests to create as they feel inspired, as well as be able to continue to mingle and eat. When the play dough baby molding comes to a close, the pregnant guest of honor can choose her favorite. She and her guests will have a laugh at the works of art.
Baby Mad Libs
-
Have plenty of writing cards and tools on hand. This game can have two winners. Each participant receives an index card and pen to write any question pertaining to babies, as long as it is not a yes or no question. Examples include "At what age do babies begin to teeth?" or "When do babies normally begin sleeping through the night?". Guests then switch cards with another guest, and without reading that person's question, write an answer to their own original question on the blank side of the card. Guests take turns reading out loud the question and answer. The mom-to-be chooses her favorite question/answer combination and each of those guests wins a prize.
Celebrity Baby Names
-
Who doesn't like to hear about and make fun of celebrity baby names? What person in the real world names their child Blue? Do celebrities forget their children will one day become adults with those names, or does being rich immune one from silly names? Regardless, their momentary lapse in sense can make for another fun baby shower game. Look up several celebrity baby names and the parents. Have a numbered list of the baby names on one side of a paper and an alphabetical list of the parents. Make sure they are mixed around. Make copies for the guests and give them a certain amount of time to match the babies to the parents. The longer the list, the funnier the guesses.
Baby Shower Word Game
-
Best shower gift? Supportive friends and family. Using the letters from the words "Baby Shower," have guests write down as many different words as they can. Set a minute timer and let them go!
