How do I Install a Diaper Genie Refill?

The Diaper Genie is a diaper disposal system used by many parents. It allows you to dispose of diapers in a plastic film bag which keeps the mess and odor contained. Once you have learned the procedure, using your Diaper Genie makes disposing of your baby's diapers worry free.

  1. Models

    • There are three Diaper Genie models. The original Twistaway model is no longer produced, but the refills are still available. The Diaper Genie II and the Elite Diaper Genie are the newer models. These models do not have a twisting mechanism. You simply push the diapers in. The Elite system is taller and has a foot pedal, making it easier to operate with one hand. Refilling any of the models requires a few basic steps.

    Cartridges

    • Purchase the correct refill cartridge for your model. The diaper Genie II and the Elite System use the same cartridge. The Twistaway model uses a different cartridge. The packages are clearly marked.

    Refilling

    • Refill your Diaper Genie when the indicator on the cartridge shows that it is almost empty.

      Dispose of any diapers in the unit. Take the lid off of the top of the Diaper Genie pail. Pull the tab located on the refill cartridge to remove the plastic seal. Pull the film out about 18 inches and tie a knot in the end. Place the Diaper Genie refill in the top of the pail. Push the knot downward through the clamp. Place the lid back onto the top of the pail and push it down until it snaps. Your Diaper Genie is ready to use.
