How to Get Your Toddler Off The Binki and Pacifier
This article will teach how to wean your toddler off the binki.
Things You'll Need
- patience and then some more patience
Instructions
Toddlers usually prefer one type of binki over another. If your toddler prefers silicone binkis buy a pack of latex for this. My toddler actually prefers latex binkis so I used silicone for this. During the first week of trying to wean your toddler off the pacifier make sure you allow them to use the binki you purchased for every nap and at night during sleeping hours. Begin by allowing the toddler to have the binki at 30 minute random intervals throughout the day. It is important that you do not just give up a binki when your toddler begins to fuss. This is where the patience come in. The child will bein to not throw tantrums just to get a pacifier. After the first week or two have passed. It is time to take away the binki throughout the day. Placing the binkis in a safe area only to be used at bedtime. Allow the child to use the binki at night for a few weeks. If you are still up in the night while your toddler is sleeping, sneek in the room and remove the binki from them. If they wake up and fuss obviously put it right back. :) After a month has passed during this only bring out the binki on rough nights or when the child is not feeling well to help them have some comfort at night. My hild eventually just stopped wanting it all together after about 3 weeks of removing it in the middle of the night.
