Wise Animals
Required:
- Your time only
Have you ever looked at a cat and just known that it was thinking: "A meow in time saves nine?" Ask your child about the words of wisdom that would roll off the tongues of your pets (or animals in your neighborhood) if they could talk.
Share some everyday proverbs with your child ("A bird in hand is worth two in the bush"; "Look before you leap"; "There's no time like the present"; and the like). Then ask your child how a dog, cat, goldfish, bird, or other critter might translate that into a wise animal saying.Perhaps each animal would come up with a different version of the proverb. For example, the dog might say, "A bark in time saves a missed school bus" in response to the cat's version of the saying. Isn't it about time that you tapped the wisdom of the furry, finned, or feathered inhabitants of the world?
