How to Find a Tumbling Class for Toddlers
When your rambunctious toddler loves to run, jump and play -- as most do -- one way to channel his energy is to sign him up for a tumbling class. Being able to do moves like headstands is probably something your child won't be able to accomplish until he's about 24 months old, reminds Dr. David Geller, writing for BabyCenter, but that tumbling class can still be a whole lot of fun. To find classes in your area, tap into resources in your local community, both personal and professional.
Instructions
Get recommendations from other parents who have done tumbling, gymnastics or dance classes, to find out which ones they've enjoyed or ones they highly recommend. Ask about the quality of the facilities, the enthusiasm and expertise of the teachers, the class sizes and the progress the kids have made. Research a parents' forum or parent website tailored for people in your area. Similar to what you've done with your friends or acquaintances, ask about the quality of the various options and why they'd recommend certain places -- or not. Check with your local community center or YMCA, which may offer a myriad of classes for toddlers. Your local newspapers or parent-friendly magazines may also have done reviews of the kids' gyms or gymnastics centers in your area, which can give you more information. Visit the websites of the centers your friends and acquaintances have recommended -- or even better, visit each place in person. If your toddler is the type who's not too difficult to bring around to various places, let him tag along so he can see the facility. After checking out several places, he may have an opinion about one place or another. While you may have strong feelings in favor of one place or another, your toddler's opinion can help you tip the scales in favor of a certain one.
